Herb Rice- Herb is a First Nation artist of Coast Salish descent. He is a wood carver whose approach to his work is to combine the richness of his heritage with a contemporary perception.

Herb's art is rendered on wood in forms of wall panels, doors, totems, talking sticks and fiurines, all of which reflect legends, teachings or personal stories of growth. His totems and his animal depictions are carved in local red and yellow cedar, alder or pine.

Shane Huxley - Born and raised in Golden B.C, Shane is a true and proud British Columbian. His respect for his land and his love of its beauty is inherent and reflected in his work.

Shane works primarily with " Old Growth" Cedar Stumps, resurrecting what remains of some of the old giants of Vancouver Islands Temperate Rainforests.

Each Piece is original and hand crafted. They are exotic and warm. These pieces of art mirror the complexity of B.C's West Coast. Through his sculptures and tables, Shane brings the elegance and harsh beauty of this land to the rest of the world.

E. J. Hughes - Our local national treasure. Mr. Hughes passed away in January of 2007 at the age of 94. A true son of British Columbia, Hughes' stylized realism has earned him a unique place in the history of Canadian art. His 2003 exhibition included work from the 1930's to 2000 and highlighted evocative symbols of life on the west coast - ferries crossing the Georgia Straight, picturesque fishing villages and farm houses, flaming arbutus trees and imposing coastal mountains.

Hughes remarkable career as an artist, spans 70 years and encompasses his work as a gifted printmaker, successful muralist, outstanding Canadian war artist and prolific painter. His paintings depict land, sea and small moments of daily life with a rare clarity and vividness. Hughes has a distinguished reputation for work underscored by a passion for the beauty of the west coast of Canada. E J Hughes prints are supplied by the E J Hughes Gallery in Duncan

Wayne Brown, Artist and Carver. "Wood Whimseys." Using local wood from the Cowichan
Valley, Wayne creates faces which are truly “whimsical”. The wood is already down, usually from windblown branches or in someone’s burn pile. In other words – recycled firewood. Sometimes burls are used to create these unique characters. To read Wayne's bio, click here.
